The annual Symphony of Kitchens tour is just one of the ways the Augusta Symphony Guild supports the Augusta Symphony. The guild, which is made up of 100 volunteers, also presents the annual Cotillion ball, sells ads for the symphony’s events and supports their ongoing educational outreach programs.

This year’s tour includes six beautiful homes and kitchens that represent a variety of aesthetics from classic to contemporary. The tour, on March 9, will showcase renovated or newly constructed kitchens.

Here is a sneak peek of what to expect, but we have held back on lots of details so there will be plenty of surprises on the tour! To purchase tickets, please visit augustasymphonyguild.com.

The Glamorous Life

Built in 1933

Channeling the richness of old-world Hollywood, this home blends a whimsical theatrical style with traditional integrity.

Originally built in the 1930s, Nick Dickinson of Dickinson Architects made minor changes to the existing floor plan, which included an addition. Yancey Shearouse of Yancey Seibert Shearouse Interior Design, along with the owners’ daughter, a current interior design student at the University of Georgia, created conversational spaces for a comfortable flow through the home. In the kitchen, the island is the scene stealer with sink and faucet from Landrum Kitchen and Bath Showroom.

Begin the day with coffee in the kitchen and end it at the bar with cocktails. The pool with vertical black and white accents provide the perfect view complete with hot pink umbrellas.

Hampton Manor

Built in 1926

The owners of this home needed a space that was built for function and entertaining. Spacious kitchen cabinets complement the sophisticated watery gray island with brushed brass hardware,  reflecting a tailored elegance. A farmhouse sink with a polished nickel finished faucet from Landrum Kitchen and Bath Showroom, white Carrera marble countertops provide durability and a modernized style for the family of five.

In 2018, shortly after the homeowners purchased the home, they hired Brittany Johnston of Brittany Cason Interior Design to add a mix of colors, coupled with antique furniture, to create the home’s contemporary and modern flair.

Palm Springs Vibe

Built in 2024

The owner of this mid-century modern home, designed by her late father, grew up on the property. When she inherited it, her first thought was to renovate. However, she soon realized that to achieve the modern amenities she desired — such as high ceilings, open-concept living and large baths — she needed to make structural changes. So, she reached out to Nick Dickinson (Dickinson Architects) and Susan Victor (Nandina Interiors in Aiken) for her vision of a mid-century modern gem tucked in a historic neighborhood.

The home exudes Palm Springs Rat Pack vibes — envision drinking cocktails by the palm tree-lined pool while Frank Sinatra’s velvety vocals croon in background. Inside, clean lines and warm wood tones set the mood. Open spaces flow seamlessly through the glass walls, merging experiences between the indoors and outdoors. Dueling wood stains elevate the home’s authentic era design and deliberate aesthetic.

A Colorful Life

Built in 1997

Sage green cabinetry, yes, please! Along with a cozy gathering spot for this family, this kitchen draws the attention of all who enter. An attractive mixture of aged brass cabinet hardware, Mont Blanc Quartzite and a backsplash tiled in mint green provide a color combination for sunny days and relaxed stays. Designer Yancey Shearouse, of Yancey Seibert Shearouse Interior Design, coalesced the colors to produce a warm and bright space. She also reassigned what was once a golf cart garage into the newly renovated kitchen pantry.

The kitchen was configured around a backyard garden shed that the family admired upon purchasing the home in 2023. The result became a color-drenched kitchen with lush green grass views, sunshine yellow hues and unique art. A recipe for family fun and entertainment, this home is a celebration of color and cheer.

Traditional Elegance

Built in 1901

Entering this home, originally built in 1901, guests step into a warm, rich color palette of chestnut flooring and antique furniture set against decorative floral wallpaper and a double-sided staircase. Brittany Johnston, owner of Brittany Cason Interior Design, assisted in the home’s complete overhaul in 2024.

The kitchen combines family function with modern appliances and custom lighting, which is the focal point of the space. Further grabbing guests’ attention is a contrasting dark blue custom stove and Bianco Quartzite countertops.

Windows spanning the back of the house allow mom to be in the room cooking or sitting while keeping an eye on outdoor playtime.

Simple Sophistication

Built in 1984

Tucked away on a quaint brick-paved street, this home is in its third debut. The original structure was destroyed by a fire in the late 1970s and was replaced by a ranch brick home in 1984. Most recently, the home received an interior and exterior facelift from Brittany Johnston with Brittany Cason Design Interiors to make it a shining star of modern-day sophistication.

Colorful artwork and intentional furniture placement maximize the smart use of interior space. Each room has its own design identity, with colorful accents and an effortless natural flow. The white kitchen features hardwood floors and a mix of satin and polished brass, while Blanco Quartzite sets the room up for showcasing art and other personal home accessories.
