GREENVILLE, S.C. — Kai-Wei Teng struck out nine hitters over seven innings, leading the Augusta GreenJackets over the Greenville Drive in a 7-0 win on Monday.
Teng (2-0) picked up the win after he walked one while allowing three hits.
In the top of the second, Augusta scored on an error that brought home Ricardo Genoves. In the following at-bat, Mikey Edie hit an RBI single, driving in Jacob Gonzalez to give the GreenJackets a 2-0 lead. The GreenJackets then added four runs in the fourth and a run in the sixth. In the fourth, Tyler Fitzgerald hit a two-run double, while Gonzalez hit a solo home run in the sixth.
Angel Padron (2-7) went 3 2/3 innings, allowing six runs and five hits in the South Atlantic League game. He also struck out four and walked three.
The Drive were held scoreless for the 16th time this season, while the GreenJackets’ staff recorded their eighth shutout of the year.
