Another week in the books and the playoffs are starting to take shape. Harlem looks like they are primed for a home playoff game in round one thanks to another big win on Friday. Cameron Garnett piled up over 200 yards and four touchdowns as the Bulldogs beat a solid Screven County team. Evans has put themselves in the driver seat in Region 3-AAAAAA winning a nail-biter over Heritage, and Greenbrier was able to pick up their first win of the year over slumping Grovetown.

Last Week: 3-2

Season total: 28-14

Evans (4-2, 2-0) vs. Greenbrier (1-6, 1-1)

Last Week: Evans beat Heritage 14-13/Greenbrier edged Grovetown 20-19

Last Meeting: Evans won last year 20-16

Evans has a strangle hold on the region and can basically lock up a playoff spot with a win over Greenbrier. The Pack has proven they have a ton of heart with last week’s win over Grovetown. I think it will be closer than some may think, but Evans should get the win.

Evans 20 Greenbrier 13

Grovetown (3-4, 0-2) @ Lakeside (5-1, 1-1)

Last Week: Grovetown lost to Greenbrier 20-19/Lakeside topped Alcovy 21-6

Last Meeting: Grovetown won last year 30-14

Grovetown needs a win this week if they want to be around for the post season. While I think their defense is good enough to keep it very close, they do not have enough offense to win in my opinion.

Lakeside 24 Grovetown 16

Harlem (5-3, 5-1) @ Josey (0-7, 0-5)

Last Week: Harlem beat Screven Co. 47-21/Josey lost to Butler 22-8

Last Year: Harlem won last year 42-8

The Bulldogs are one of the best stories of 2019. Harlem lost a ton of starters to graduation, including star running back A.J. Brown, but they have obviously re-loaded. Cameron Garnett has proved to be one of the top backs in the state and the offense is clicking on all cylinders. It will be a long day for Josey. A possible running clock is the only thing that stops the Bulldogs from scoring 60 points.

Harlem 51 Josey 7

Augusta Christian (3-5, 2-5) vs. First Baptist School (7-2, 4-2)

Last Week: ACS lost to Porter Gaud 13-10/FBS beat Heathwood Hall 39-26

Last Meeting: FBS won big last year 63-14

The Lions will definitely keep this one much closer than last year’s matchup, but I still give the edge to First Baptist.

First Baptist School 33 Augusta Christian 23

Augusta Prep (0-7, 0-1) @ Westfield (2-7, 1-2)

Last Week: AP was idle/Westfield beat Bethlehem Christian 21-7

Last Meeting: Westfield won last year 27-7

The youthful Cavaliers have had a tough season. Hopefully next year their numbers will be up and some of the experienced players return as they rebuild the program.
