It was confirmed today that the 8th annual Little Roy & Lizzy Music Festival scheduled April 30 and May 1-2 near Lincolnton, Ga., has been canceled for 2020.

Bonnie Lewis, wife of Little Roy Lewis, said this morning that the indefinite closing of Georgia state parks led to the decision since their festival always has been held at Elijah Clark State Park on the Savannah River east of Lincolnton.

Headliners this year were to have included bluegrass music superstars Rhonda Vincent, The Malpass Brothers and Del McCoury; “Gaither Homecoming” TV series favorites Jeff & Sheri Easter; country music star Gene Watson and many others.

Lewis said the festival is being canceled for this year and not just being postponed because of the enormous expense involved in booking major artists and the uncertainty of how long the coronavirus pandemic will last.

“We can’t afford to spend that much money and only have 500 people show up,” she noted.

She also is concerned about the health of the several thousand bluegrass and gospel music fans who come to the festival from many Southern and far-off states as well as foreign countries.
