Thousands of voters in Richmond County have opted to cast their ballot for the June 9, 2020 General Primary using an absentee by mail ballot. The Richmond County Board of Elections strongly encourages this method of voting by all voters for this election. Here are a few things you should know:

  • The absentee packet contains a privacy sleeve and not an envelope for you to place your voted ballot into. Please use the sleeve in the same manner as you would use an envelope – to protect the privacy of your ballot. Once your ballot is inserted into the sleeve, place the sleeve into the envelope containing the oath, sign and seal the envelope, and return it to the Board of Elections Office.

  • If you choose to mail your ballot, the cost will be .55 for postage.

  • Drop boxes for voted absentee ballots will soon be provided at certain locations around the county. We will announce the opening of the boxes soon.

  • Your ballot must be received by the Board of Elections Office by 7:00 PM on Election Day – June 9, 2020 – in order to be counted.
