Last Week: 4-1

Season Total: 26-9

There is a smaller slate of games this week with Evans, Greenbrier and Grovetown all idle. Harlem’s difficult schedule for 2020 continues as they face off with an always challenging Burke County while Augusta Christian, who is coming off their first loss, will play Trion — a Georgia public school with a solid tradition. Augusta Prep faces an extremely tough bunch in Creekside Christian Academy, which stands at 4-0. Also, Lakeside gets back on the field to face the athletic squad from Heritage-Conyers.

Here is a look at this week’s picks:

Lakeside (1-4) vs. Heritage (0-1)

Heritage lost to Stockbridge last week in their season opener 30-20, while Lakeside had an extra week to prepare for this matchup. However, the Patriots still have some solid athletes and should get the victory over the Panthers.

Harlem (2-4) vs. Burke County (1-2)

Forget the records you are looking at. Harlem may be the best four-loss team in their classification in all of Georgia, while Burke County’s two losses came to perennial powers Greater Atlanta Christian and Benedictine. The Bulldogs posted 43 first-half points in last week’s win over Cross Creek. Well, that is not happening against Burke County, but this game will be much closer than many around the state may predict.

Augusta Christian (6-1) @ Trion (1-4)

The Lions have to put last week’s loss to Hammond behind them. They played the three-time defending state champion tough and might get to see them again. Trion’s record is 1-4, but it knocked off a Class AAAA public school last week, so this will not be a cake walk at all. I still like Zack Blackwell and his teammates to get the win.

Augusta Christian 34 Trion 27

Augusta Prep (3-3) @ Creekside Christian Academy (4-0)

The Cavaliers had a rough game last week, losing to Brentwood Academy 46-0 and they face an equally difficult test this week. Creekside is 4-0 and will be a huge hill for Prep to climb.
