It was all about the details and making sure the event was a family affair for Lindsay Doris and Marco Mueller. The couple got engaged in December 2019 and immediately began to plan their big day. For Lindsay there was only one place to have her wedding, Sacred Heart Cultural Center, but she left the ultimate decision to Marco.

“My husband is German and I really wanted to make sure he was a part of the planning process. He had the final say on the venue,” Lindsay explained. The church has been an integral part of her family history — a couple of the church’s stained glass windows bear the Doris name and her great-uncle was a priest at the parish. “It was the one place I wanted to get married and thankfully, Marco fell in love with it too,” she said.

The day was filled with special touches that paid homage to the couple’s family ties. Marco worked with Lindsay’s father, Bernard Doris, to design her wedding ring. Lindsay’s sister, Bunny, who is an artist, created the artwork to showcase the couple’s signature cocktail. Marco’s mother, along with other family members, were not able to attend the wedding due to Covid, so honoring her was extremely important to her new daughter-in-law. Lindsay wore a pearl ring that was gifted to her by her mother-in-law early on in her relationship.

“All these little details made the day that much more special,” she admitted.

But perhaps the most memorable moment for Lindsay was the first look with Marco on the front steps of Sacred Heart. It was that moment that gave the couple a few minutes to be together and ease any nerves.

“That moment was so special,” she explained. “Just to have a moment just the two of us, it set the tone for the rest of the day.”
